Sarah Eunkyung Kim was born in South Korea and began training in classical violin at the age of six. She attended a specialized music high school and as a senior, performed as a soloist with the Romanian National Orchestra. Upon graduation, she moved to the United States to further her education in music. Since then, she has played in and has been a part of many professional orchestras and chamber ensembles. Among her many accolades, she received the first prize from a music competition, held by The Korean newspaper in Virginia in 2003.
After being granted a music scholarship to Towson University, she graduated in 2011. While there, she won the Talent Award for Music, String Division in 2007 and received 2nd place in the prestigious Friedmann-Gordon competition in 2008.
Ms. Bae is currently in her last year of her master’s program at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She maintains a full schedule that includes private teaching and performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and member of various orchestras.
Shearom Chung (Viola): Doctoral Musical Art
Dr. Shearom Chung is a talented violist/violinist, who recently won 1st place in the 2013 American Protege International Strings Competition at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also won 1st place in the String Division of the Baltimore Music Club Competition in 2006, followed by winning overall in the Catholic University of America Concerto Competition in 2007.
Dr. Chung has a broad range of professional experience, playing in a variety of professional orchestras such as the National Philharmonic Orchestra, Cascade Orchestra in Oregon, and Mid-Atlantic Orchestra just to name a few.
She recently finished her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC and was a full scholarship recipient. She studied with Tsuna Sakamoto who is currently a member of the National Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Chung also received her Master of Music and Graduate Performance through a full scholarship at the Peabody Institute of John Hopkin's University in Baltimore, MD. There she studied with Richard Field who is serving as the principal of Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Chung is currently the Orchestral Manager and Principal Violist of the Belcantanti Opera Company. She also teaches violin and viola at the International School of Music in Bethesda, MD.
